About

Ryan Felberbaum is a sound designer and field recordist based in South Florida. He recently graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a BFA in Sound for Cinema, where he honed his skills in sound editing, design, dialogue editing, mixing, foley, ADR, audio implementation, and music editing. Ryan is proficient in software such as Avid Pro Tools, Reaper, and Soundminer, and holds a certification in Wwise. His passion for all things sound, both linear and nonlinear, has driven him to continuously learn and expand his knowledge in the field.

In addition to his academic pursuits, Ryan has gained practical experience as a Teaching Assistant and Post-Production Audio Engineer at Columbia College Chicago's audio suite, where he supported students and faculty in all aspects of post-production audio.

Currently, Ryan works as an Associate Sound Designer at Penguin Grenade, where he creates and designs professional-quality sound effects for sound effects libraries with Paul Stoughton. He is responsible for conducting multi-mic recordings of various sound effects in both studio and field settings, as well as editing and cleaning recorded sounds and creating sounds through synthesis. Ryan also utilizes a range of plugins and effects to process sounds and uses Soundminer to organize and enrich metadata within sound files in accordance with Universal Category System standards.

He is also an accomplished multi-instrumentalist and composer, with a focus on scoring for media. Ryan's musical interests range from electronic and metal to ballads and classical, and he is particularly obsessed with modular synthesis, using Eurorack synths to create unconventional and experimental sounds.

In his free time, Ryan can often be found field recording and capturing unique sounds to add to his arsenal, while simultaneously getting strange looks from bystanders. You can also find Ryan building up his Warhammer army as well as playing with his dog, Franklin.
